Excursion options

The Australian Sports Museum at the MCG allows for all learning styles. It is engaging and has an extensive interactive component.

1. Australian Sports Museum
The Australian Sports Museum is set to re-open on February 29, 2020. The new museum is interactive with touch screens and avatars, climbable objects and sporting challenges, you will explore and discover how grassroots and elite sport shapes Australian lives and our national identity. This self-guided experience has something for all age-levels and curriculum areas.

Cost: $10 per student
Free admission for one supervisor per 10 students and $15 per additional supervisor.

2. MCG Tour
Guided tour of the stadium, led by a Melbourne Cricket Club volunteer. School tours are 60 minutes duration.
Current cost: $8.5 per student
Cost from February 29, 2020: $10 per student
Free admission for one supervisor per 10 students and $15 per additional supervisor.

3. Combined package: Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tour
Cost: $15 per student
Free admission for one supervisor per 10 students and $15 per additional supervisor.

Recommended Time
75 minutes is recommended for an MCG Tour.
90 minutes is recommended for the Australian Sports Museum, which includes 60 minutes to explore the museum and 30 minutes play in the Game On! area.

School excursions during Museum closure

Until February 28, in addition to the MCG Tour, schools will have an opportunity to book into facilitated programs featuring the MCG Tour.

Facilitated Programs – $14 per student

Scar Tree Walk plus MCG Tour
Organised in conjunction with the Koorie Heritage Trust, students will learn about Yarra Park and the MCG as a traditional Kulin Nations meeting place.
This experience will be offered on Mondays and Fridays during the closure period.

Meet an Olympian plus MCG Tour
Available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, our popular Meet an Olympian program will be offered in a non-Olympic year for the first time.
The 30-minute presentation will be delivered by an Olympian provided by the Victorian Olympic Council.
