Accessible Parking (Non-Event Days)

We offer limited accessible parking at the MCG for customers who hold a valid Australian Disability Parking Permit. This only applies to non-event days and must be booked in advance by emailing [email protected]. Please include your booking reference number, name, mobile number and car registration in your email. Please note that if our allocation of accessible parking spaces reaches capacity on any given day, we may not be able to accommodate all requests. The maximum height of the car park entrance is 2.1 metres

Other car parking options:

• The Eastern Plaza Car Park on Olympic Boulevard is the nearest multi-storey car park to the Australian Sports Museum at Gate 3. There is a lift from this car park to the Melbourne Arena Bridge which connects with the MCG’s concourse. It is approximately an 11 minute walk. Car parking can be pre-booked here.
• There is limited street parking available at the corner of Jolimont Terrace and Jolimont Street. From this point it is approximately a 5 minute walk to Gate 3 of the MCG.
• Yarra Park is only open for car parking on select major event days. Please check the MCG website for the Yarra Park car park opening schedule for major event days.

Taxi/Ride Share

Taxis and ride share vehicles are instructed to drop off and pick up passengers from the Bus Turning Circle, on the corner of Jolimont Terrace and Jolimont Street. From this point it is approximately a 5 minute walk to Gate 3.

Public Transport

The MCG is well connected by public transport:

• Richmond Station – A 10 minute walk to Gate 3 of the MCG. You will need to cross Punt Rd at the traffic lights then walk through Yarra Park. The Yarra Park pathways are asphalt and you will be walking uphill as you approach Gate 3.
• Jolimont Station – A 5 minute walk (downhill) to Gate 3 of the MCG. You will need to cross the railway bridge and then walk through Yarra Park. The Yarra Park pathways are asphalt with cobblestone speed bumps. You will be walking downhill as you approach Gate 3
• Jolimont Station/MCG Tram Stop on Wellington Parade – A 5 minute walk (downhill) to Gate 3 of the MCG. You will need to cross the railway bridge and then walk through Yarra Park. The Yarra Park pathways are asphalt with cobblestone speed bumps and you will be walking downhill as you approach Gate 3.

Access

The Australian Sports Museum is split across three levels. A lift connects the ground level to level B1 and a ramp connects level B1 to level B2. Seating is spread throughout the Museum for when you need a rest.

The MCG Tour route can be adjusted according to your access needs. The arena can be accessed by stairs or a steep ramp. Please advise your tour guide if you require ramp access. All other areas of the MCG are serviced by lifts.

A limited number of wheelchairs are available for loan. Please contact us prior to your visit to arrange a wheelchair.

Guide Dogs

The MCG and Australian Sports Museum welcome assistance dogs, both trained dogs and dogs in training. Please ensure your dog is easily identifiable as an assistance dogs and that you are carrying your dog’s certification with you.

The nearest dog spending area is on the grass in Yarra Park.

Accessible Bathrooms

Outside the MCG

• There is one gender neutral, accessible bathroom located outside the MCG, between Gate 3 and 4 (behind the light tower). This bathroom is open to the public from 9am -5pm each day as well as after hours during events.

Inside the MCG

• There is a Changing Places facility inside Gate 3 (opposite the Museum’s ticket counter). The Changing Places facility is equipped with features such as a tracking hoist, full-sized change table, and more space to meet the needs of people with a disability.
• There is one gender neutral, accessible bathroom located inside the Australian Sports Museum on the upper level. This bathroom can only be used by Australian Sports Museum ticketholders.
• There are two gender neutral, accessible bathrooms located on the ground level within a 2 minute walk from Gate 3.

Parents’ Rooms

There is a Parents Room located within the Australian Sports Museum. This room is equipped with feeding cubicles, change tables and a microwave. This Parents Room can only be used by Australian Sports Museum ticketholders.

There is a Parents Room located on the ground level within a 2 minute walk from Gate 3. This room is equipped with feeding cubicles, change tables and a microwave. There is a code required to open this room, please ask staff for assistance.

Companion and Carer Support

A person with a disability can bring a companion to the Australian Sports Museum or MCG Tour for free, when purchasing their own ticket and showing proof of a valid companion card.

Companion card holder tickets may be booked online or at the Gate 3 ticket counter.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

The Australian Sports Museum is proud to support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. This is a discreet way for a person with a hidden disability to make their disability visible in order to receive more time or support from staff.

If you would like to register and wear a Sunflower lanyard during your visit, you can pick up a Sunflower from Gate 3 at the MCG prior to your visit or ask staff at the front desk when you arrive for assistance.

Hearing Loops

There is a hearing loop at the Australian Sports Museum front counter to assist with ticket purchasing and enquiries. Unfortunately there is no hearing loop or guide within the Australian Sports Museum or on the Tour presently.

Sensory Room

The MCG’s Sensory Friendly Space is currently only open during MCG events. If you require a quiet room during your Australian Sports Museum visit or MCG Tour, please contact us via [email protected].

All children and young people visiting or engaging with the Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tours, managed by the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC), have the right to feel and be safe, respected, valued and protected from harm.

The MCC is strongly committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people within the Australian Sports Museum and the MCG as well as through engagement in our programs. We aim to create enriching experiences for young patrons and want children to feel safe, happy and empowered by their connection to the Australian Sports Museum and MCG.

We create and maintain a child safe environment. The welfare of children and young people is a top priority, and we have zero tolerance for child abuse or any behaviours that threaten the safety and wellbeing of children.

We are committed to the principles of cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, culturally and linguistically diverse children, and to the safety of children with a disability. We recognise that these support the safety of all children. We recognise that acting to protect and maintain the safety of children is a responsibility of all staff members, and we foster a culture of openness that supports all people to safely disclose risks of harm to children.

The MCC will take all necessary steps to prevent and protect children from physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, and cultural abuse and neglect. This includes protecting children from other children and patrons.
